Jay Newlon of Wilmington, Delaware, died peacefully on January 3, 2012, after a short illness.

Jay is survived by his friend and partner, and endearing and devoted wife of 71 years, Martha Hart Newlon and by what he often called his and Martha's "considerable brood of exceptional offspring,":

Daniel, Alice, Penelope, Thomas, Christopher and Scott, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

A memorial service for Jay was held on January 8, 2012, at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, at 2:00.
